“and that all this assembly may know that the Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you into our hands.” ~ 1 Sam 17:47 (full readings)
Kathy’s Reflections: Today begins the Midwest March for Life. I wondered what the readings would be. I was not surprised to see they were about David and Goliath. Three years ago I sat in my car at noon across from the parking lot of Planned Parenthood in Columbia, MO and watched. I had heard they did abortions. It was quiet, no customers, the sign said they were closed. I left. Later I found out the killing of the innocents began at 2pm. How could we not do something about this? For three years now faithful prayer supporters have been praying outside the place of death in Columbia which routinely kills 700 babies every year. And in 2011 the “Giant” was only able to slaughter an estimated 129 babies. Too many, but God is working. David took five stones with him. We took five stones too…adoration, fasting, physical prayer presence, the Saints (St. Padre Pio, Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Philomena and others) and a Jericho march. The “Giant”, Planned Parenthood, also looked at us with contempt as Goliath did toward David. Faith-filled, we came against the “Giant” in the name of the LORD of hosts. We have completed five campaigns of 40 Days of peaceful prayer vigil. There is that number five again! How long, Lord, how long, before your babies are safe in the womb? We don’t have the answer, but we will continue to be on that sidewalk with our five stones until You secure the victory.

* Pray/Fast: Prayer connects us with God’s will & His miracles, changing us & helping others. Fast from things that take your eyes off Jesus. Those who pray together stay together, and close to God!
* Save Unborn (and family): Abortion reality…#1 death cause (22% pregnancies). Prov 24:11 and Jer 1:5. “A great poverty that a child must die that you might live as you wish.” Mother Teresa.
* Evangelize: Make room for unbelievers and re-evangelization of self, by way of prayer (relationship) and following Christ’s example of love (service/sacrifice/mercy). Mt 28:19.

Posted at 3:12 PM, 18 January 2012Kathy, I love your analogy of the 5 stones! I wish I could not relate to your experience on the sidewalk. My group, Catholics United for Life did this in the 80s. We used to routinely pray for a movement to rise up to do as we and scattered other small numbers were doing. Praise God for 40 Days!!
