21 Mar [5 days!] Sign of the Cross (Jn 4:54) by Dr. Rich Reich
Reflection: The Gospel of John records seven signs (or miracles) “to help you believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, so that through this faith you may have life in His name” (Jn 20:31). In Today’s Gospel reading, John records the second sign that Jesus did in which He performed a remote healing of a royal official’s son (Jn 4:46-54). Jesus recognized that “unless people see signs and wonders, [they] do not believe” (Jn 4:48). Despite the many signs that Jesus performed in the people’s presence, they refused to believe in Him. So Jesus gave everyone a final sign: the Sign of the Cross, by dying for us to atone for our sins. Today we are surrounded by miracles, but our World does not recognize them. Our culture needs to recognize that every child is a miracle (born and unborn). God blesses us with life and allows us to take an active role in His creation. As Pro-Lifers, we must also take an active role in protecting God’s creation. Help others to see the miracle in the creation of every human life.
