04 Jul Hold that Fire Line! (Amos 6:14) by Dr. Pat Castle
“Seek good and not evil, that you may live.” ~ Amos 5:14 (full readings)
Pat’s Reflections: Today’s image was taken a week ago when the Air Force Academy chapel was threatened by a nearby forest fire. Three of the five LIFE Group Board members have served at the Academy, both as cadets and/or professors (www.LIFErunners.org/leaders). The LIFE Group began near the Academy in 2007 (background), so that firestorm hit close to home for the LIFE Group. A much greater firestorm hit even closer to home the next day, impacting every church in America. The Affordable Care Act fire was started by the HHS and fueled by the Supreme Court’s decision last week, compromising our religious freedom. What now? “Seek good and not evil, that you may live!” Speak up – for a good wind to blow out this evil smoke screen that is concealing the Truth…taxpayer funded abortion (blood money). Pray – for Christ to rain down His good grace/mercy on this evil firestorm. In today’s image, the cadets are walking towards the chapel, postured to protect. Let us walk towards the Church, postured to protect our religious freedom. Let’s hold the fire line to prevent any further scorching of our religious freedom, which was earned through the prayers, love, and ultimate sacrifices of courageous life and freedom loving Americans – for God and country! On this 4th of July, we are so very blessed to celebrate our freedoms, with religious freedom being the greatest.

Faith Challenge: Hold that fire line – All In Christ for Pro-Life! May our redemptive sacrifices be like the beetle kill pines which formed a natural fire line for stopping the forest fire from taking the Academy.
Feast Day: St. Elizabeth of Portugal.
Faith Quote: “The challenge facing you, dear friends, is to increase people’s awareness of the importance of religious freedom for society; to defend that freedom against those who would take religion out of the public domain and establish secularism as America’s official faith.” ~ Blessed John Paul II (1995). Quote from the front cover of the Knights of Columbus Columbia magazine this month.
* Evangelize: Make room for unbelievers & re-evangelization of self, by way of prayer (relationship) and following Christ’s example of love (service/sacrifice/mercy). Mt 28:19.
