…I was provoked with that generation…”
~ Heb 3:10 (full readings)

Fr. Daren’s Reflection: As the Lord God was provoked with that generation who rebelled against him in the desert, we, too, may well be provoked with our own generation as we wander through the various forms of desert present in society today.  Our provocation sometimes leads us to disdain and disgust with those whose hearts are hardened against life.  We must be wary in our zeal to defend the dignity and beauty of all human life, lest we, too, harden our hearts.  When we are provoked with our generation, we must follow the example of the Lord Jesus who “remained outside in deserted places” (Mark 1:45).  If we remain in humble and confident love in the deserted places where the beauty of life is not recognized, people will also come to us from everywhere, as they did with Saint Anthony of Egypt.  When the people came to Saint Anthony he gave profound spiritual guidance and led them to Christ.  Today, let us seek his intercession so that we would do the same.
