Reflection:  As we see throughout Scripture, when God has a mission for someone, he anoints him.  The oil is a sign of the strength God gives for the task.  When you say “Anointed One” in Hebrew, it is “Messiah,” and when you say it in Greek, it is “Christ.”  He, as the Son of God, has the greatest anointing and the greatest mission: conquering death and bringing salvation.  We have all been anointed, through baptism in Jesus Christ, to participate in spreading his Gospel of Life and building his Kingdom of Life.  The same Holy Spirit that rushed on David, and eternally fills Jesus himself, is also given to us.  We do not receive a lesser spirit, or merely an “echo” of the Spirit, but the very same Holy Spirit who first created the universe and who will raise the dead!  What, then, can be our reason for lacking confidence that we will indeed eradicate the evil of abortion?  We do not sit and wonder whether we will overcome the culture of death.  Rather, we stand up, face it defiantly, and declare, “Your kingdom has already been defeated, in Jesus’ name, for He has conquered death and His kingdom is among us!”
.
Challenge:  The Holy Spirit is the “Advocate,” who pleads our cause in the courts of heaven.  So when He fills us, He makes us advocates for our defenseless brothers and sisters.  Is there some occasion in my life where I should be speaking up about my pro-life convictions but have been silent out of fear or shame?  Now is the time to let the Holy Spirit break that silence!

Inspiration:  “For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” ~ 2 Tim 1:7
