“and you have approached Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and the sprinkled Blood that speaks more eloquently than that of Abel.” ~ Heb 12:24 (full readings)

Becky’s Reflections: The blood of Jesus: a life offering gift that Paul said “speaks eloquently.” One may wonder how blood can speak. Picture yourself in the midst of a civil war, battles being waged, man against man, no holds barred. Imagine you are walking in the midst of the fallen on the field of battle. Breathe deep. Look closely. It is present: the blood speaks. In this case, it speaks horror, fear, pain, death. You turn to find life, a glimpse of hope, but it seems impossible, for you are surrounded by those who have died for the cause. The civil war of which I speak is the one being waged, one life at a time, in abortion clinics across America. Worldwide, we are in the most horrific civil war ever waged in the history of mankind. With an American death toll of more than 55 million since 1973, we may feel a victory is too daunting. And yet, THIS is where the blood of Jesus speaks! Jesus, our mediator, who died and shed His blood that we may have new life, hears our cries for the unborn! He hears our prayers. God, the creator of all life, is calling on us, to stand, to dare take up this cause of Life in this civil war. The blood of Jesus speaks in eloquence over this war. He leads us into battle, and with Grace, will provide the victory!
