14 Jan Burn Off the Fog (Mk 1:15) by Dr. Rich Reich
Welcome God now with this LIFE Group Devotion(FB), provided by LIFE Runners (FB). Leaders. Guest Authors.
“‘This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.'” ~ Mk 1:15 (full readings)
Rich’s Reflections: Like the Gospel says, the kingdom of God is at hand, because right now God is powerfully present with us. However, sometimes our eyes are too clouded by the fog of our surroundings to see His presence. The dense fog can contain our daily worries, regrets, guilt, selfishness, shame, envy, and pride. The remedy is clearly stated in the Gospel, “repent and believe.” By repenting we are able to see the presence of God, because the Son burns off the fog with His forgiveness. Then we are able to see that God is present in the depths of our hearts. He is in our friendships and in the world around us. Women experiencing a crisis pregnancy may find themselves in a fog of despair. As Pro-Life Christians, be the guiding light for these women and lead them through the fog to the peace that only our loving and forgiving Father can provide. Lord, may I deepen my awareness of your loving presence each day of my life. Amen.
