Jenn’s Reflections: Difficult as it may be for us to understand, there are many abortion-minded people who do recognize the sanctity of human life – in its developed form. These people would do anything to protect life outside the womb without hesitation. Their hearts are oriented toward working for the good of their fellow man, to the extent that they know how, for this is in our nature. The problem is that society fails to recognize human life in its purest and most innocent form and is blind to its rejection of the Fifth Commandment altogether! This comes from a simple yet profound ignorance of the Mercy of Christ, and His desire for us to commit our lives to building up His Kingdom. The culture has sucked up the life-giving water and made dry the path upon which we try to sow the seeds of truth – hardening it and making it impossible for the roots of reality to take hold. Without first cultivating the soil of our lost brothers’ & sisters’ hearts by sharing with them the gift of Christ’s mercy, we cannot expect to see the fruits of the seeds we sow. If I want to see results from my efforts to educate people about life, I must first find out whether they have come to know and love the Source of life. Odds are they haven’t. What an opportunity! Let us make fertile the ground upon which we run, so that the seeds of truth we spread along the way may become tall trees of beauty and produce a bountiful harvest.
