“When the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to ransom those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”
~ Gal 4:4-5 (full readings)

Rich’s Reflections:  Begin this new year by thanking God our Father for choosing to adopt us.  Through this adoption, He has freed us from slavery and turned us into heirs of His Kingdom (Gal 4:7).  Our alternative to adoption is slavery leading us “back into fear” (Rm 8:15).  The choice is easy, and God has chosen us.  If we had not been adopted by God the Father, we would be slaves for our whole lives “through fear of death” (Heb 2:15).  In the abortion debate, Americans are being asked to choose between the mother or the child.  However, with adoption, we choose to love (and save) both the mother and the child.  Pray for women who are considering abortion that they see that adoption is the better option.

Faith Quote:
“A son or daughter in any human family is either born to or adopted by the parents.  By definition, a child can’t be both. But with God we’re both born of Him and adopted by Him.” ~ Jerry Bridges, Holiness Day by Day: Transformational Thoughts for Your Spiritual Journey
