“Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed.”
~ Jn 20:8 (full readings)

Kevin’s Reflections: St. Peter and St. John had several unique distinctions: in addition to being the closest friends of Christ, they were also the first two Apostles to witness the Resurrection at the Empty Tomb. St. Peter, of course, became the first Pope, and St. John became a great Gospel writer, and also cared for the Holy Mother after Jesus entrusted Mary to John at the foot of the Cross. John saw with his own eyes Jesus Himself, and the works that He created here on earth. John also saw Him beaten, humiliated, and crucified. The fact that John was dear friends with Jesus is a clear path to holiness, but John took that a step further and wrote down the experiences and the Life of Christ to spread the message and thereby evangelize others. This is part of our mission as well, to evangelize through our example, through our words and deeds to follow in the footsteps of this great Saint, and thus to emulate Christ Himself!
* Kevin works at an Alternative Education program serving three counties in Southern Illinois. He and his wife Laura have a 14 month old miracle named Elliana (“the Lord Answers”) to love, and another baby on the way, due around Divine Mercy Sunday 2014!  They have been blessed during the 7 ½ years of their marriage to travel to Catholic pilgrimage sites worldwide.
