20 Sep Compassion (Lk 7:38-39) by Sara Beaner
She stood at his feet weeping and began to bathe His feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them, and anointed them with the ointment. When the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this he said to himself, ‘If this man were a prophet, He would know who and what sort of woman this is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner.’ ~ Lk 7:37-39
.
Reflection: Do we know this woman coming to Jesus? Could she be a coworker, sister, friend, neighbor, or complete stranger who had an abortion and is begging Jesus to forgive her? Do we say to ourselves out of pride, “She is one of those women,” and not forgive or help her? We share tears for the post-abortion mothers and babies who we could have saved. And the kisses are our kisses telling Jesus how much we love Him and need His forgiveness for our many sins. How can we not treat the broken hearted women who have had abortions with the same forgiveness that Jesus gives us?
.
Challenge: Show compassion to all we meet today.

Pray LIFE Runners Creed to end abortion. Add Prayers.

Inspiration: “Jesus loved and still loves the unwanted and the unloved. He loves them deeply. He died for them, and he doesn’t stop saying: ‘Love one another as I have loved you. As the Father loves me, love one another.'” ~ St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta
