Steve’s Reflections: In today’s Gospel Jesus quotes Psalm 118 to drive home the message of the parable of the tenants; the people of God have rejected His Son. In the first reading Joseph who “Israel loved…best of all his sons” was nearly murdered by his brothers and eventually sold into slavery after being thrown down a dry well. Likewise, in the parable of the tenants, the king sends his son to intervene only to have him killed for his inheritance. During the 40 days of Lent, the Church has set aside this time to reflect on our relationship with God through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. It is as if the Church is asking us, “How have you rejected Jesus?” It is an invitation to turn away from sin, and turn back to God. Since Roe vs Wade an entire generation has turned its back on God’s law. Let us reflect on Jesus’ words, “Therefore, I say to you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit.”

Faith Quote: “The fundamental human right, the presupposition of every other right, is the right to life itself. This is true of life from the moment of conception until its natural end. Abortion, consequently, cannot be a human right — it is the very opposite. It is a deep wound in society.” ~ Pope Benedict XVI
