Sandy’s Reflections: “What do you want for your children?” It was a question posed by the principal to a school gymnasium filled with parents one cold winter evening. The question was followed by a somewhat awkward silence; and finally a brave soul answered, “We want to get them to heaven.” To get to heaven, Matthew calls us to not only keep the commandments, but to teach others to keep them. It is not enough to oppose abortion, but we must shine a light in the dark, offer help and support and spread the message of Jesus. We must do something to stop the fear, the pain and loneliness felt by women faced with an unexpected pregnancy. We cannot wait to see what might happen, or who else might take up the cause. It’s our time to step up and step in and not just follow, but lead.
