“Then he said to me:  Prophesy over these bones, and say to them:  Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!”

Joshua’s Reflections:  God invites humans to participate in His work; this theme is evident among the several readings appropriate for today’s  memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Ezekiel is called to bring about the resurrection of the dry bones through prophecy.  Mary is called to be the supreme mediatrix of Christ’s grace to humanity both as the physical mother of Our Lord and as Queen of Heaven.  God could will any result He wanted:  the resurrection of dry bones or the appearance of Jesus Christ on earth, but He chose to invite His creatures to participate in His works.  Certainly we cannot know God’s entire reason for asking humans to do His work, but in part, it must be because it allows us to achieve what we were created to do:  glorify Him and participate in His will for creation.  When we take action to protect mothers and the unborn, we are evangelizing the Gospel of life – promoting the dignity of a human life is part of God’s plan for His creation, and what an honor it is to be given the opportunity to be God’s servants.
