Pat’s Reflections: On 1 Jan 1863, 150 years ago, President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation that freed God’s children who were enslaved in America.  22 Jan 2013 marks a full generation (40 years) since the legalization of killing children in the womb.  Biblically, 40 is a significant number that means a very long time.  The Great Flood lasted for 40 days.  Jesus spent 40 days in the desert.  The blood of abortion has flooded our country for 40 years.  Pro-Lifers have spent 40 years in the desert.  40 years with abortion is a very long time…one moment with abortion is too long.  As Pro-Lifers we have spent too much time and energy blaming the pro-abortion side.  Let’s change our focus from them to us.  We can do much much more to ensure another generation does not have to suffer the reality of abortion, 22% of all pregnancies (40% in NYC) end in abortion (death of children) and 35% of all women have had an abortion (injury to mothers/fathers/families).  Let’s put our Pro-Life faith in action to make an Emancipation Proclamation for all of God’s children, born and unborn.
