04 Nov Empty Yourself (Lk 14:23) by Dr. Rich Reich
“The master then ordered the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedgerows and make people come in that my home may be filled.’” ~ Lk 14:23 (full readings)

Rich’s Reflections: Have you ever prepared yourself for a really big banquet? I usually fast or eat small meals throughout the day in preparation so that I am not too full. Jesus has invited us to His banquet. Are you prepared? Is there enough room for Jesus in your life, or is it too stuffed with stuff? Or maybe you are possessed by your possessions? Jesus is inviting us to share in His life. He has invited us to His banquet and He wants His home to be filled (Lk 14:23). However, we cannot accept Christ’s invitation and be filled with Him until we empty ourselves of all these distractions; the empty calories of our life (materialism and selfishness). Jesus has made room for us at His banquet table. Are you too full to hear His invite? He is constantly inviting us to share in His life and to serve Him. Are we making excuses, or are we ready now to do His will? Empty yourself and make room for Jesus in your life, because absolute fullness only resides in Christ (Col 1:19).
