29 Jun Engage for Change (Lk 19:13) by Paul Westendorf
He called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins and told them, ‘Engage in trade with these until I return’.~ Lk 19:13
.
Reflection: Jesus tells a parable about coins (time, talent, treasure) given to a master’s servants. They are to use these coins in his absence. To be more precise he tells them to “engage” with these. As Christians it is our responsibility to engage our fellow mankind and build a community of love, faith, and respect for life. We must speak out against injustice and engage for change! History shows that evil intentions can only succeed when those of good do not act. With abortion we are face to face with the greatest evil of our time. It is not enough to say, “I wouldn’t have an abortion but what others do is up to them.” (“Take the gold coin from him and give it to the servant who has ten.”) We must be active as the word of God is alive. We are called to promote a life of love and faith and to help and protect the innocent. (“‘Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones. Well done, good servant!’”)
.
Challenge: Avoid the “comfort” of silence, engage and be our brother’s keeper.
.
Pray LIFE Runners Creed to end abortion.

Inspiration: “Always remember, you are just one ‘hearing’ away from Faith, just one ‘knowing’ away from Peace, and just one ‘action’ away from total Victory.” ~ Rex Rouis
