13 May Eternal Life (Jn 10:28) by Dr. Rich Reich
“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.” ~ Jn 10:28 (full readings)
Rich’s Reflections: Jesus promised to give us eternal life; a life lived in heaven forever with Him. Jesus kept His promise when He died on the cross and rose from the dead, and we received this gift of eternal life when we were baptized. Many call themselves Christians and seek to accept this gift of eternal life in heaven, but they do not choose to give their lives to Jesus now. This is perplexing, but I think people have a wrong idea of eternal life. Eternal life is not just a happy, everlasting life, but a life of total love for Life Himself, Jesus our Lord (Jn 11:25). Why would someone seek to be with Jesus forever in heaven if they do not want to develop a relationship with Him now? This lack of commitment to the Christian ideals of eternal life are paralleled with the inactive pro-lifer. Why would someone want to call themselves pro-life if they did not want to actively defend the unborn and the dignity of all human life? Like Christianity, Pro-life is not just a belief, but a lifestyle.

Faith Quote: “As a Christian, Christ died so that we will have eternal life in Him in Heaven. What it looks like doesn’t matter, what it smells like doesn’t matter, as long as Christ is there it will be Heaven to me.” ~ T.D. Jakes
