Faith Journey (Jonah 3:4-5) by Scott Casmer

12 Mar Faith Journey (Jonah 3:4-5) by Scott Casmer

“Jonah began his journey through the city, and when he had gone only a single day’s walk announcing, ‘Forty Relay 2014days more and Nineveh shall be destroyed,’ when the people of Nineveh believed God; they proclaimed a fast, and all of them, great and small, put on sackcloth.” ~ Jonah 3:4-5 (full readings)

Scott’s Reflections:  Today’s reading (Jonah 3:1-10) talks about a faith journey taken by Jonah.  It reads, “Jonah began his journey through the city, and had gone but a single day’s walk announcing, ‘Forty days more and Nineveh shall be destroyed.'”  Right now, each of us is on a Lenten journey intended to be a time of self-reflection, personal sacrifices, and a strengthening of our faith lives.  This is also the forty days of the LIFE Runners A-Cross America Relay.  Each person running a leg has made a sacrifice to be there and will benefit from praying for an end to abortion while running.  Those who witness the runners on their journey wearing their Pro-Life gear will benefit from the bold message urging us all to remember the unborn.  At the end of the forty days, we look forward to seeing a piece of the culture of death destroyed.

Faith Challenge:  Between now and Easter, pray for the mission and safety of the relay runners.  If you are not able to participate yourself, make some personal sacrifice to show your unity with their message.
