Mary Ellen’s Reflections:  For those of us involved in pro-life work–prayer, running, witnessing at abortion clinics–today, January 22nd, is the most disturbing day of the calendar year.  For it was 42 years ago today that our government legalized the taking of human life at its most vulnerable stage.  They stated that now women would have “safe” conditions for their abortions.  Since that date, 57 million babies have lost their lives.  I wonder how many of these mothers think of their aborted children on a daily basis?  How many mourn on the due date that their children would have arrived?  Being a mother myself, there is not a single day that goes by that I don’t reflect on my son and daughter.  When they were babies (20 months apart in age), I would state they were my right and left arm–an extension of me!  My life would not be complete without them.  I cannot imagine the loss and grief these women feel.  That is why our work is not done.  Look at what has been accomplished.  Since 1991, there are 73% fewer abortion facilities and 300% more pregnancy centers.  Hope, faith, and perseverance will keep us fighting the good fight and eventually winning the battle!
* Mary Ellen is a wife, mother, and mother-in-law.  Her most precious gift given to her recently is her job at Sacred Heart Villa early childhood development center on The Hill in St. Louis working with 4 year olds and knowing that each life is a precious gift from God!.

Faith Challenge:  Let us offer up our day for all those affected by abortion that they may come and find God’s healing grace.
