“But that we may not offend them, go to the sea, drop in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up.  Open its mouth and you will find a coin worth twice the temple tax.  Give that to them for me and for you.”

Rich’s Reflections:   In today’s Gospel, Jesus told Peter, a fisherman, to go to the sea and catch a fish.  In the mouth of the first fish that Peter caught was a coin to pay the temple tax for Jesus and Peter.  I believe this illustrates that Jesus uses our strengths to accomplish His will.  Jesus could have accomplished the task of paying the temple tax by a multitude of methods, but He chose to utilize Peter’s strength as a fisherman.  As an officer in the Air Force I have had many opportunities to serve as a team leader, and I have found that team members are most effective and productive when I tap into their identified strengths and interests.  This allows the team members to have “buy-in” with the objectives of the team and to be the most productive.  With over 2700 LIFE Runners, we have a variety of occupations, talents, and skills in our organization.  Identify how your strengths may best be utilized to serve our Pro-Life ministry.  Maybe you are a good writer and want to write a LIFE Runners devotion as a guest author (contact devotions@liferunners.org); maybe you are a charismatic leader and want to lead a local LIFE Runners chapter; or maybe you are a prayer warrior and want to pray for those considering an abortion.  There are so many opportunities for you to contribute in the defense of the unborn.  Don’t be afraid to drop in a hook.
