21 Sep Follow Me (Mt 9:9) by Dr. Rich Reich
“As He moved on, Jesus saw a man named Matthew at his post where taxes were collected. He said to him, ‘Follow Me.’ “ ~ Mt 9:9 (full readings)

Rich’s Reflections: As LIFE Runners, we hear the Lord knocking on the door and calling us by name. We have heard His calling and donned our blue LIFE Runner jerseys in defense of the unborn. Like the apostle Matthew, we sense something inside our hearts calling us to service. Jesus is still calling today’s “Matthews” to follow Him; however, many are afraid to say “Yes.” They are afraid of what people will think when they see the message on their jerseys, “REMEMBER THE UNBORN”. Will they be ridiculed when others see that they support the defense of the unborn? It has never been popular to follow Jesus, nor to be pro-life, although our popularity is growing. To be Christ’s disciple means becoming a fool in the eyes of the world, just as many would believe that we are foolish to get involved with a woman’s decision to have an abortion. Many are afraid and hesitate to follow us, because they are not secure in their convictions about being pro-life. If they knew deep down inside the horrors of abortion and the impact it has on the human family, they would be afraid not to join us in the defense of all human life.
