27 Oct Glory Revealed (Rom 8:18) by Alice Chapman
“I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us.” ~ Rom 8:18 (full readings)
Alice’s Reflections: Sometimes it’s almost overwhelming to contemplate all of the suffering that exists in this earthly life. Every day, the news and social media bombard us with stories of injustice, war, terrorism, and evil. The recent news of Planned Parenthood’s sale of fetal tissue and organs harvested from abortions is just another heartbreaking and incomprehensible example of this. But Paul reminds us in today’s reading that no matter how bad it seems right now, God’s plan for humanity will come to fruition; He will reveal His glory and it’s going to make everything we’re dealing with now seem like nothing at all. And we can see glimmers of that glory even in every day acts of kindness, justice, and love for our neighbor. We can see it in every woman who courageously chooses life for her baby. Recognizing God in those things can renew our faith that all will come together according to His plan and in His time.
