30 Apr Good News (Acts 5:20) by Father Daren
“Go and take your place in the temple area, and tell the people everything about this life.” ~ Acts 5:20 (full readings)
Father Daren’s Reflections: By telling the Apostles to go back into the temple area, the angel of the Lord effectively told them to go back into the public square and proclaim without fear the truth of the passion, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. This task of speaking openly and clearly of the Good News of salvation is not reserved only to the Apostles, but is the mission of every man, woman, and child who has been baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus. Speaking of Jesus’ love for all people is not always easy; our pride often keeps us quiet as we worry about what others will think of us. Pope Francis has been seeking to call us out of ourselves and out of our fear to speak plainly of the joy of the Gospel. As such, his call is the same as the command of the angel. It is time to take up this mission again. Those who are considering aborting their child and those who have already done so need to hear the joy of the Gospel in our words and see it in our lives.
