“The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death, but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.”
~ Lk 19:47-48 (full readings)

Peggy’s Reflections:  Jesus is with us when we pray in front of abortion clinics, because we are gathered there in His name (Matthew 18:20). We should allow Him to speak through us.  Perhaps, then, those who are seeking to put innocent babies to death will find no way to accomplish their purpose because they hang on His words, spoken by us.  Even if you never have the opportunity to actually talk someone out of an abortion, your prayers for life are not in vain.  Trust that Jesus will find a way to use your prayers to do some good for the pro-life cause.

Faith Challenge:  Consider training to become a sidewalk counselor.  If that is too much of a commitment, make an effort to schedule at least 30 minutes each month to pray in front of an abortion clinic.  Even if no one else is there, God knows that you are and will make use of your prayers and the sacrifice of your time.

Faith Quote:  “I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ~ Elie Wiesel, Holocaust survivor
