loveoneanotherIf anyone says, ‘I love God,’ but hates his brother, he is a liar; for whoever does not love a brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. ~ 1 John 4:20

Reflections:   We live in a romantic world that makes love seem light and easy.  At Christmas time we think of the infant Jesus as the Blessed Virgin, St. Joseph, and others gaze upon him with affection. But that affection is an invitation to love, it is not love itself.  Love is shown forth as St. Joseph leads them into Egypt.  Love is shown in the fullness of living, not just in the affection.  To build a culture of life, we must build a culture of love.  To love is to choose the good of an Other, even when it is difficult.  Love when it hurts, love when it isn’t easy, love when it is messy.  We build a culture of love one trial at a time.
.
Challenge:  Prepare your own heart for great acts of love and create empathy for those who struggle to love the unborn by yourself loving (choosing/doing good for) anyone who challenges you.
