08 Jul Healing Opportunity (Mt 9:21) by Dr. Rich Reich
“She said to herself, ‘If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.'” ~ Mt 9:21 (full readings)
Rich’s Reflections: In the Gospel reading today, Jesus set out to resurrect the daughter of Jarius. Before He could arrive at Jarius’ house though, a woman who had been suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up from behind Him seeking to be healed. The woman touched the tassel on His cloak. Jesus turned around, saw her, and said, “Your faith has saved you” and she was immediately healed. In our daily lives, we can become overwhelmed with our goals and overlook those in need of healing. Like Jesus, we need to be open to opportunities to help others. When people ask for you to pray for them, stop what you are doing and take the opportunity to pray with them immediately.
