“Jesus said to them, ‘Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I AM.'”

Rich’s Reflections:  Jesus is called the Prince of Peace, but He does not keep the peace at the cost of telling the truth.  Jesus cannot tell a lie.  If He did, He would be like the Pharisees, a liar (Jn 8:55).  In today’s Gospel, Jesus was very blunt to the Pharisees.  He openly and clearly called Himself “God” by using the title “I AM,” the name God had given to identify Himself (Ex 3:14).  Jesus was then quickly chased out of the temple with stones.  As LIFE Runners, we are as bold as Jesus in the message that we wear on the back of our jerseys, “REMEMBER THE UNBORN.”  We do not withhold the truth about abortion to maintain the peace, but we share the truth about abortion to give peace.  Peace that otherwise would be shattered by years of guilt and torment by the memories of a child that would have been.  Peace that can only be experienced by the forgiving mercy and love of Christ through repentance.  The truth that we proudly wear on our backs is an unbearable truth for those who have experienced the pains of abortion.  Their emotional response is often targeted towards us as hatred and anger, but this should not prevent us from revealing the truth for we cannot tell a lie.  Lord, give us the strength and courage to boldly tell the truth about abortion so that others may know Your peace.
