Hello, LIFE Runners Team (3,752 runners/walkers ages 1 to 101 in all 50 states and 23 countries!),

Fall is upon us and we are excited for our team races that are just around the corner! We are blessed by all of you as you offer up your training runs for the unborn children and their courageous mothers, an end to abortion, and a greater respect for all human life.  Our team is growing at a great pace.  Check out LIFE Runners Membership Director, Paul Westendorf’s very cool chart below.

We continue to bring awareness for the unborn by being living banners of hope when we wear our bold blue gear out in public! United in prayer and in truth we strive to bring the Culture of Life to the world every day and thank God for his guidance!

 

New LIFE Runners Board Member

We are excited to welcome our newest board member, Grant Fenske!

Grant Fenske (2015):  healing ministry coordinator.  In 2011 Grant started a LIFE Runners chapter in Lafayette, Louisiana. His goal in life is to spread the peace and love of our Lord through prayer and humility. Grant is in his second year of study to become a Third Order Dominican.  He is a fourth degree Knight of Columbus who has a strong devotion to the Rosary and Eucharistic Adoration. Grant has experienced numerous encounters with Christ in his international travels. He has lead retreats for Christ Renews His Parish. For eight years Grant hosted a program on Radio Maria called “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” that was broadcast throughout LA.  Grant graduated from Saint John’s Prep High School in Condado, Puerto Rico. He graduated from the University of Southwest Louisiana in 1986 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Personnel Management. Grant worked for 3M Company for 25 years, and then started a company in Houma, LA where he resides. He helps organize races that support Pro-Life efforts.  Grant is thankful to be running again after nearly dying of a rare bacteria that attacked his heart. Grant sees the National LIFE Runners Team as a family joined with the life-saving mission of sharing The Good News with love and compassion.  grant@liferunners.org

Honoring Ed Heigl

In honor of Ed Heigl, who went home to the Lord earlier this year, starting in 2016 we will be offering a LIFE Runners Chapter of the Year award. Ed was an inspiration to all who new him and possibly even more to those who didn’t, he impacted lives wherever he went! This chapter award will come to the chapter that most embodies the passion for LIFE that Ed lived out daily! We will be requesting submissions for LIFE Runner man/woman/male student/female student of the year and at that time will send each chapter leader the criteria for the chapter of the year.

America’s Pro-Life Half Marathon

Next on our annual race schedule is America’s Pro-Life Half Marathon/5K, co-hosted by the Vitae Foundation and LIFE Runners in Jefferson City, MO, October 24. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural Pro-Life Half Marathon/5K (300 participants from 11 states), this year’s event is sure to be even bigger and more inspirational!  Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to register and enjoy the beautiful race course on the Katy Trail.

Las Vegas Marathon/Half Marathon/10K/5K

The Las Vegas Marathon is just around the corner, only 8 weeks to go! We will be a powerful witness for LIFE where our message has a drastic contrast to the theme of this city. We showed up in great numbers to the Air Force Marathon last fall (200 LIFE Runners!), and we hope to have even more in Las Vegas to stand as a witness! Be sure to let us know you are going and if you plan to attend the banquet.   Please take 3 minutes to complete the form below.

The Las Vegas Marathon/Half Marathon/10K/5K will be held November 14-15. Our theme is Prayer in the Desert: “I fed you in the wilderness, in the parched land” (Hosea 13:5).

We recommend booking your stay at the Excalibur, as the rate is good and the location is excellent. If you have not booked your room yet we suggest doing it soon.

2016 A-Cross America Relay

Can’t make it to Las Vegas or Jefferson City? Keep praying and running or walking for LIFE wherever you are! And save the date for the 2016 A-Cross America Relay, February 10 (Ash Wednesday) – March 20 (Palm Sunday). We’ll be running and walking north, south, east, and west – finishing in Kansas City, MO.  If you can’t reach the course, you are welcome to run/walk the 5K legs remotely. Last year legs were run remotely from all over the world, it’s a real team effort to cover more than 5,500 miles in 40 days!

Today we pray that women will cherish the gift of motherhood, and that men will protect their families. Let us pray: “We believe in the dignity of all human life from conception to natural death. We run as a Prayer, to defend children in the womb, so that they may be born and united with our Christian community. We run to build Endurance, for the race is long and we must keep our eyes fixed on You Lord. We run for Awareness, so our culture will view all human life as a reflection of Your glory Lord. We run for Charity, to provide support for mothers and fathers tempted to abort their child, and healing support for post-abortion women, men and families. We run to End abortion, for Christ died so that all may live. Guard us all, born and unborn, with Your PEACE, Lord. For in You, life is victorious. We pray and run in Your name, Jesus Christ. Amen.”
