06 Apr Keep Me Safe O God, Show Me the Path to Life (Ps 16:1-2A) by Paula Parmelee
“Keep me safe O God; in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, you are my Lord, you are my only good. “ ~ Ps 16:1-2A (full readings)
.
Paula’s Reflections: Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope. Life brings disappointments, sorrows, and loss. We are sad when a family member is sick. We feel helpless when love is not returned. Our hearts are grieved over missed opportunities. But when someone we love deeply is gone from us in this world forever, a gaping hole forms in our hearts. A constant ache presides in our chest. In the dark of night a heaviness pervades. Keep me, O God, for in You I take refuge. Surely the greatest grief of all is the loss of a child by miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, still birth, and abortion. I offer my prayers and open my heart to all women who have suffered from this loss in their lives. In a special way I reach out today to the post abortive women who may have no one to turn to. Your pain is felt; your pain is real; our Blessed Lord hears your cry of sorrow. Turn to Him. Let Him be your comfort, because He sees and knows your pain. In Him take refuge.
