“Have you not read this scripture passage: ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.'” ~Mk 12:10 (full readings)

Rich’s Reflections:  In today’s Gospel, Jesus told the religious people of His day that they had missed God’s will; the keystone of the structure.  The keystone is the wedge-shaped stone piece at the apex of a masonry arch, which is the final piece placed during construction and locks all the stones into position, allowing the arch to bear weight.  The Jewish religion was based on the Messiah, yet they rejected the Messiah, Jesus.  As Jesus is the keystone of our faith, locking us together and bearing our burdens; the family is the keystone of our society.  God created families to model His love, transmit Christian values in the family and into the world, and receive His gifts (new life).  The stability of human society is dependent on the stability of families.  This is why Satan plans to attack the family through the evils of pornography, verbal and physical abuse, adultery, divorce, abortion, alcoholism, etc.  As Christians, we need to value our families and recognize the evils that threaten its stability.  As the keystone is the center of the arch, keep your family in the center and focus of your life.  * Dr. Rich Reich is the co-founder of the LIFE Group Devotions and the National LIFE Runners Team.  He is married to Erica and lives in Satellite Beach, FL.  Full bio.
