Mary Ellen’s Reflections:  Last year my husband and I moved to St. Louis after living over 30 years in Belleville, IL. Even though it was just across the Mississippi River, it was still quite a change for me. I left familiar surroundings and had to get into some sort of new routine. Well, we were blessed to move into a very active parish. St. Gabriel the Archangel parish offers two daily morning Masses. My old parish was unable to even have one daily Mass due to the priest shortage. I started attending each weekday morning and asking God for help with this move to find my way each day. And, God answered me with wonderful blessings–an unknown neighbor clearing our steps after a snowfall, small talk with patrons at Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, a gift certificate from our next door neighbor for raking her leaves, and the most rewarding part-time job working with the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the four-year olds at The Villa. As the sun rises each morning, we need to open our hearts to Him and find out what great surprises He has in store for us. May we pray for those contemplating abortion that upon a new sunrise, God’s light opens their hearts to new life and wonderful surprises!
* Mary Ellen Hoffman is a wife, mother, and mother-in-law.  Her most precious gift given to her recently is her job at Sacred Heart Villa early childhood development center on The Hill in St. Louis working with 4 year olds and knowing that each life is a precious gift from God!.
