“Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; for what he does, the Son will do also. For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything that he himself does, and he will show him greater works than these, so that you may be amazed. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives life, so also does the Son give life to whomever he wishes.”

Kevin’s Reflections:  In today’s gospel reading Christ powerfully reminds us that God is a Father and Jesus Christ his Son. God Himself is a loving family who, through His love, created every human family that ever was or will be. As Jesus Christ sought only to please his loving Father in all that he did, so too should we. As the Father loves the Son, so too should every early father and every earthly mother, each made in the image of God, also love every single son and daughter that springs forth from their union. Every single child, whether or not he or she has yet come forth from his or her mother’s womb, is a child of God’s as well as of the parents. Let’s pray that we would all realize that lofty responsibility and desire that every child will be given life and will come to know the love of a father and a mother, so that sons may desire to be like their fathers, and daughters to be like their mothers.

“The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one’s life, but rather a legacy of character and faith.” ~ Billy Graham
