Living Faith! (James 2:14,17) by Pastor Matthew Lim

21 Feb Living Faith! (James 2:14,17) by Pastor Matthew Lim

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?  Faith of itself, if it living faithdoes not have works, is dead.” ~ James 2:14,17 (full readings)

Pastor Matthew’s Reflections:  James, the brother of Jesus argues in his letter that true faith is a living faith from God that transforms a person first in the inner man and then in his external behavior.  True Spirit imparted, life-transforming faith in Jesus Christ will always be seen in how one relates to others and the world around him.  Living faith is an inward out faith that gives evidence of God’s grace through works of righteousness.  What a grand reminder that every effort to defend the unborn, as with all works of righteousness transcends mere political or social issues.  Works from a living faith is the means by which Christ might be seen and that His glorious gospel may be declared.  Let’s not labor only for the physical rescue of the helpless but let’s labor for their spiritual redemption through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Faith Challenge:  Living faith cannot be sourced from the deadness of our own hearts but rather from the giver of life Himself, Jesus Christ.  In the light of God’s Word, take some time today for a personal “faith” examination.
