Matthew 10:9-10 (urgent message)

10 Jul Matthew 10:9-10 (urgent message)

* Welcome God every morning before work by taking ~5 min to read this Living In Faith Exchange (LIFE) Group devotion (, which has snippets from Living Faith (

Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts; no sack for the journey, or a second tunic, or sandals, or walking stick. The laborer deserves his keep. Matthew 10:9-10

Living Faith snippets: “Jesus felt a sense of urgency in spreading his message, a message that had to be heard because people’s lives depended on knowing it. Jesus’ message was that he loves us unconditionally, that he would die for us and rise from the dead, and that his helping presence would be with us always. He promised us that this present life would give way to the fullness of a life that would never end.” by Fr. Kenneth E. Grabner

Rich’s comments: Despite the fast times that we live in today, there is a lack of urgency when it comes to spreading Christ’s message and taking it to heart. There exists a belief that Jesus is nice, but not necessary. There is no hurry. Is this how news spreads when a new child is born to a family? The family is usually overjoyed with excitement in spreading the news of their new life that they have no hesitancy in telling everyone, even strangers. Lord, may we be overjoyed and excited in knowing that You are the source of new life, and may others see the urgency in us in knowing You. Amen.

* Prayer: Prayer connects us with God’s will & His miracles, thereby changing us & helping others. Wayne Watson lyrics, “When God’s people pray, there is hope reborn, there is sin forgiven, and miracles you can’t explain await!” “If you pray that God will move a mountain and He doesn’t, assume Christ wants you to climb it instead & see Him.”
* Defend the unborn: ‘Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to death; don’t stand back and let them die’ (Prov 24:11). ‘Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you’ (Jer 1:5). ‘It is a great poverty that a child must die that you might live as you wish’ Blessed Mother Teresa. * Evangelization: Let’s make room for non-believers (be a friend, make a friend, lead friend to Christ) and perpetual re-evangelization of self and those near us, by way of daily prayer (relationship) and following Christ’s example of selfless love, mercy, and service.
Let’s joyfully live out the Good News and gladly tell others about it (Mark 16:15)!
