09 Mar Matthew 21:42 (Unexpected Cornerstones)
Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; by the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes?” ~ Matthew 21:42 (full readings)
Rosemary’s Reflections: We aren’t given a map of our lives when we are born, nor can our parents spot one with an ultrasound while we were still in the womb. Steve Job’s birthmother didn’t know her son would change the face of the technological world as we know it. Tim Tebow’s mother couldn’t know her son would be the quarterback for the Denver Broncos, bringing faith into the sports arena. Both of these women could have aborted their babies (Job’s mom was a university student; Tebow’s mom had health issues), but didn’t. So who’s to say what kind of potential the unborn have? How can we know who the cancer-curing doctor or first female president will be? Only God knows what plans He has for His creations, plans for prosperity and hope (Jer 29:11). We cannot let our nation keep rejecting these possible cornerstones of society just as the Pharisees rejected Jesus.
