19 Aug Matthew 22:14 (Lord’s Wedding Feast)
Rich’s thoughts: Today’s chosen scripture comes from the parable of the Wedding Feast (Jesus is the bridegroom and the Church is the bride). This parable mentions a wedding garment, which my study Bible explains is the repentance, change of heart (metanoia) and mind, that is the condition for entrance into the kingdom and must be continued in a life of good deeds. In the parable, one of the wedding guests attended the feast unprepared and was not dressed in a wedding garment. He was consequently “cast into the darkness outside.” All of humanity has been invited to the Lord’s Wedding Feast, but not all will be prepared for the union with Christ. Lord, prepare my heart so that I may be fit to come into union with You. Amen.
