“The centurion said in reply, ‘Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed.'” Matthew 8:8 (full readings)
Rich’s Reflections: The centurion in today’s Gospel demonstrates tremendous faith and humility. Even Jesus “was amazed and said to those following the [centurion], ‘Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith.'” (Matt 8:10) Jesus told the centurion that He would come and cure his servant. The centurion had the faith to know that Jesus only needed to say the Word, and his servant would be healed. The centurion, a military officer who commanded a hundred men, was also very humble in acknowledging in front of his men that he was “not worthy to have [Jesus] enter under [his] roof.” I pray that I can share the same faith as the centurion in the power of Jesus’ healing Word and have the humility to demonstrate this faith to others. Lord, I am not worthy to receive You, but only say the Word and I shall be healed. Amen.
Faith Challenge: Pray for the faith and humility to ask for our Lord Jesus Christ to enter into your heart so that you may be healed.
