“With the Lord there is mercy, and fullness of redemption.” ~ Ps 130:7 (full readings)
.
Jeff’s Reflections:   We all have sinned and are therefore in need of redemption.  This is such a beautiful penitential Psalm that grants comfort to all of us in need of mercy.  When Pope Benedict XVI spoke about this psalm, he talked about how God not only forgives us our sins, but how He also grants us unexpected graces.  The story of Zechariah is used as a great example of God’s mercy because when Zechariah repented of his sin, he was granted not only the restoration of his speech, but also given the gift of prochecy. God can truly turn any situation into a blessing.  He is SO good.  It is up to us, however, to repent of our sins and to trust in his goodness and mercy.  God is waiting for us to return to Him.  He will show us great mercy and reconcile us to Himself if we only recognize our sin and ask for forgiveness.  We can take confidence in His mercy and should be quick to share this good news with others.
