06 Sep Miracles (Lk 4:24)
And he said, ‘Amen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place.’ ~ Lk 4:24

Reflection: We are always searching for the incredible, for something outside of ourselves. In today’s verse, the Galileans were blind to see that one of their own could be capable of producing miracles. We ourselves doubt the true power of God to work miracles through us. We can become blind to miracles, because we become ungrateful. We may consider our fortune in life as a bit of luck or something of our own doing. We do not consider that God’s hands are involved. We let what was once a miracle become common to us. I was surprised to hear a DJ on the radio state that any woman can produce a baby and that it is no big deal. It is no big deal. It is a huge deal! We need to remember that every life is a miracle from God. We get so accustomed to God’s goodness that it becomes a routine, and then we become blind to the miracles around us.
