“To what shall we compare the Kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it?  It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth.  But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches.” ~ Mk 4:30-32 (full readings)

Paul’s Reflections:  On this last day of the first month of the new year, we have so much to be thankful for in the Pro-Life movement.  And with a mustard seed of faith, we look forward in hope for the Culture of Life to fully “spring up” in our world.  And we look forward in peace and assurance as we strive to build the Kingdom of God, remembering Christ’s promise, “Whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John 14:13) So Lord, we ask You this day, as a community of believers trusting fully in Your power, to sow the Culture of Life fully into our world.
Today is also a perfect opportunity to thank the Lord for all the mustard seeds that He has sown in our own lives, and to reflect on just how blessed we are. We have a Father who loves us, a Savior who died for us, and the Holy Spirit who leads us to salvation.  Thank You Lord for this Good News!
In my own life, I have more to be thankful for than I can express.  And just recently, God has called me into full-time foreign mission work!  The Lord has called me to sell all my possessions, give up my own ambitions, and give my life to serving the poor and proclaiming the Gospel.  It all started with a mustard seed of faith and the grace to say yes to His calling in my life.  This past September, I joined a Catholic mission organization called Family Missions Company.  Now, I am building God’s Kingdom as a missionary in Pune, India.

The mission in India is urgent. Over one-third of the world’s poorest people live in India, and less than 5% of the population knows the saving news of Jesus Christ.  Today, I ask you and all the LIFE Runners community to pray for India.  It would be an awesome blessing to have the support of the LIFE Runners community in this mission. Continue to persevere in faith, and know we are truly global team of LIFE Runners as we unite in prayer and build the Culture of Life  from all corners of the earth!
* Paul started the LIFE Runners chapter at Ave Maria University, where he studied pre-medicine for two years.  He recently heeded the Lord’s call to “sell all that you have and come follow me,” and has become a full-time missionary with Family Missions Company.  He currently serves the poor and proclaims the Gospel as a missionary in Pune, India.  To donate to Paul’s mission or to follow his blog, visit: http://www.fmcmissions.com/portfolio/paul/gallery/missionaries/.
