05 Dec On God’s Time (Mt 9:28-29) by Kevin McNicholas
“When he entered the house, the blind men approached Him and Jesus said to them, ‘Do you believe that I can do this?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ they said to Him. Then He touched their eyes and said, ‘Let it be done for you according to your faith.’” ~ Mt 9:28-29 (full readings)
Kevin’s Reflections: Jesus asks us this every day, indeed, every time we pray. Why else would we pray, if we didn’t believe that He can help us? God will always grant us what we need! When Jesus told the blind men “Let it be done for you according to your faith” it really made me stop and think about my own life. God allowed us 5 years of infertility before blessing us with these two children. I always believed that He could bless us with children, but it became apparent that for whatever reason, He wasn’t ready. Or maybe we were the ones who were not ready! It became easier to accept that our timing was not God’s timing, and we learned to accept His will in our lives even more. We learned that God sometimes says “No,” and other times says “not right now.” Either of these answers are just fine, we need to have the Faith to believe that He has our best interests in mind, and that in following Him, we are surrendering our own wishes and desires, and living in accordance with His will. Nothing short of that will lead to our salvation.
