.Jesus suffering
“I have told you this so that you might have peace in me.  In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” ~ Jn 16:33 (full readings)
.
Rich’s Reflections:  In today’s Gospel, Jesus promises us that we will find peace in Him; but He also warns us that we will experience suffering.  How can we experience peace and suffering?  This may be confusing to us, because Jesus does not give us peace as the world does (Jn 14:27).  Jesus gives us peace through suffering; however, not all suffering leads to peace.  When we suffer, because of our sin, we fall apart and become disintegrated.  When we suffer for being Christians, we become integrated.  When we suffer for the love of Jesus, we become one with Him by knowing Him and the power of His resurrection (Phil 3:10).  As a result, we see life differently.  Listen to what Jesus is telling us today.  Take courage, because He has conquered the world.  Do not be afraid to stand up against the world in defense of the unborn.
