23 Aug People in Our Lives (Ru 1:16)
But Ruth said, “Do not ask me to abandon or forsake you! For wherever you go, I will go, wherever you lodge I will lodge, your people shall be my people, and your God my God.” ~ Ru 1:16

Reflection: This verse from Ruth is a favorite of mine because of Ruth’s faith, first in Naomi, and even more deeply in God. In those days, two widows would not have been respected or treated decently, but Ruth realized that through her faith she would be saved, which is why she stayed with Naomi. Another important point in this story is how God blessed Ruth as a result of her faith in Him and her fidelity towards Naomi, since she is a key female figure in the Old Testament and a Judge of Israel. God places people in our lives that we need to follow, we pray for “those who have gone before us marked with the Sign of Faith.” These are our priests, pastors, parents, grandparents, relatives, friends, and those whose devout examples bring us closer to God and inspire us to serve “the least of these.” All In Christ for Pro-Life!

Challenge: Identify a person in your life whose faith in God is an example and inspiration to you. Let them know in person or through prayer, which will encourage their important witness.
