Rich’s Reflections:   In today’s reading, Jesus says that He will not bring peace, but yet Jesus is called the ‘Prince of Peace’. (Is 9:5)  How can this be?  Jesus ultimately wants to bring us peace through a close and personal relationship through Him, but yet He cannot achieve this without separating us from things that keep us from Him.  He has not come to mend relationships for us with others, but to tear those relationships apart that prevent us from seeking peace through Him (man against father; daughter against mother ~ Mt 10:35).  In our Pro-Life ministry, there are bound to be friends and family who do not agree with our views about the dignity of all human life, born and unborn.  We need to try to reach them with the Truth through the love of Jesus Christ, but we should not go against the Truth for the sake of saving our relationship with them.  This is not the path to true peace.  That path can only be found through a close relationship with Jesus Christ.
