01 Jun Protecting the Temple (Mark 11:15)
Welcome God now with this LIFE Group Devotion (FB), provided by LIFE Runners (FB). Leaders. Guest Authors. LIFE Minute radio.
“They came to Jerusalem, and on entering the temple area he began to drive out those selling and buying there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves.” ~ Mark 11:15 (full readings)
Rosemary’s Reflections: This is one of the few instances we see Christ angry, yet we understand He has a right to be–what was once holy has now been tainted by greedy vendors all wanting to make money off people seeking sanctuary. Sounds like what the abortion industry is doing, especially to young women. It’s taking advantage of those troubled just to put money in their pockets, which is why the options of adoption or parenting are mostly not suggested. St. Paul reminds us in his letter to the Corinthians that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and should be respected as such. Just as Jesus did, we cannot stand by to watch something created in the image and likeness of God be prodded and destroyed by tools of sin.
