“Look to the Lord in his strength; seek to serve Him constantly.”
~ Ps 105:4 (full readings)

Kirsten’s Reflections: For those who haven’t been pregnant, let me describe the first trimester.  You don’t look pregnant but you’re experiencing symptoms that can make people wonder if something’s wrong.  Most experience an overwhelming exhaustion at some point, kind of like taking nighttime cold medicine and then expecting to stay awake and function normally.  Many experience the very poorly named “morning sickness”.  Even something as simple as the smell of someone’s lunch can trigger it- especially since the sense of smell is often much more sensitive during the first trimester.  It’s a difficult enough period of time that practically everyone looks forward to when their particular set of symptoms will be over.  It’s a period of time where you have to get your strength from the Lord.  He created the new life and taking care of that life, even through morning sickness, is serving Him in a unique way.  I pray that all pregnant mothers “look to the Lord in his strength,” for he will help them, morning sickness and all.

Faith Challenge: See what you can do to help your local pregnancy center.  While they always seem to need baby items such as diapers and baby food, see if yours likes to keep pregnancy aids available to help pregnant mothers get through all those other symptoms.
