Psalm 124:7 (full readings)

Bridget’s Reflections:
How often do we really consider that if it weren’t for the grace of God and Christ’s work on the cross, our souls would’ve been hopelessly doomed.  Without our Redeemer, there would’ve been no hope for us…none at all.  And yet, each of us in the family of faith has been rescued “from the fowler’s snare”.  Rescued from a life of hopelessness, listlessness, purposelessness, foolishness, selfishness, the list goes on and on. It’s pretty easy to forget that I was hopelessly snared and God broke the snare!  He set me free – my hope was in the name of the Lord.  This is true for each of us.  If each of us has experienced such a spectacular rescue from destruction, why shouldn’t we expect that same spectacle of power and and love to be active on behalf of the unborn?  The scourge of abortion may be supported by the laws of the land, but it is not supported by the laws of our God, the creator of heaven and earth.  We must embrace a sense of immediacy and expectancy that God is doing something unprecedented in our nation to bring abortion to an end…not in a generation, or a decade, but now.  This sense of the “now” must dramatically alter the way we speak, pray and behave in our life saving mission.  We must believe that as surely as we were doomed and God rescued us, so shall He rescue every little one “doomed” by the callousness and disdain of our culture.

Feast Day: The Holy Innocents. Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi.  Then what had been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “A VOICE WAS HEARD IN RAMAH, WEEPING AND GREAT MOURNING, RACHEL WEEPING FOR HER CHILDREN; AND SHE REFUSED TO BE COMFORTED, BECAUSE THEY WERE NO MORE.”” ~ Mt 2:16-18
Faith Quote: “The Christian faithful are called to build a “new world,” transforming with charity and Gospel values the social structures that deny or contradict the truth about God and humanity.”
