“Let us see whether his words be true; let us find out what will happen to him.” ~ Wisdom 2:17 (full readings)
Rosemary’s Reflections: In college, I ran the steeplechase race during the outdoor track season. The race is eight laps (2 miles) with four barriers to hurdle over around the track and one in front of a water pit. It’s a grueling race, so any support from the sidelines was much appreciated. The water pit was always a popular spot for fans and photographers to gather–not only is it the most exciting part, but it’s the best place to watch runners fall into the water. As much as I wanted to put it out of my mind, I couldn’t help but wonder how many people were waiting for me to take a wrong step. But when it did happen, I realized I kept my eyes ahead and got back on my feet. As Christians, we seem to be put under a lot of scutiny. People can be very critical about your belief and may put you to the test. The Pharisees tried to trick Jesus into tripping over His words. But Jesus stayed confident and focused. We all make mistakes and thanks be to God He is forgiving. Although the road ahead may be hard, we must lead by example, in success and failure.
