Sights and Sounds (Is 40:30-31) by Diane Overmann

20 Dec Sights and Sounds (Is 40:30-31) by Diane Overmann

Though young men faint and grow weary, and youths stagger and fall, they that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles’ wings; they will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint. ~ Is 40:30-31

Reflection:  Which view would Isaiah call us to embrace?  We hear and see the horrible hatred and death on our streets, in our country, in countries around the world, even in our schools.  We are bombarded with a culture that tells us we can buy happiness.  We are surrounded by the materialism of Christmas.  The unborn continue to be sacrificed.  We also see the Salvation Army kettles being filled.  Parish giving trees opening many hearts.  Also, the marches and walks for life continues each year around the world.  LIFE Runners relay A-Cross America.  Children gather and look in wonder at the crib.  Homeless are invited to feast.  Family and friends embrace.  Food pantries are filled.  Even McDonald’s is closed on Christmas Day.  So many years have passed since God sent the message to Isaiah to tell us to hope in the Lord.  So many years have passed since a Savior was born Who is Christ the Lord.  As we approach the darkest time of the earthly year, I choose to believe in the Light.  I choose to believe that abortion will end.  Peace will come as the King of Glory comes and the nations rejoice.  I am one small voice saying “I believe.”  Please join me.
.
Challenge:  Sit down for just 5 minutes and list the goodness that you see around you today.  Praise God and celebrate the holy.
